Wind Symphony performance February 16, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Wind Symphony, the principal instrumental group at the University, will present an evening concert of “Dances and Marches” on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8:15 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is free and open to the public. All of the works to be performed reflect dance or march tunes. Percy Grainger’s Children’s March, Fillmore’s American’s We, Johanness Hansson’s Valdres, and other world renown pieces comprise the march area of the program. Leonard Bernstein’s Candide, David Holsinger’s Havendance, Sir Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances, and Frank Ticheli’s Shenandoah, round out the program. The UWG Wind Symphony is comprised of the top instrumentalists. Although primarily composed of music majors, the ensemble boasts students from every discipline on campus. The ensemble has toured throughout the United States and appeared as feature performers at music conventions. Dr. Douglas R.
