Last Comedian Standing February 10, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Do you think you’re funny? The University of West Georgia’s Student Activities Committee (SAC) is giving students all over campus a chance at comedy stardom. The SAC will host “The Last Comedian Standing” Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 8 p.m., in Cashen Hall. Students will be given an opportunity to showcase a five-minute stand-up comedy routine that will be judged for a cash prize. SAC will also provide entertainment from comedian Willis Turner. Turner, the 2003 Las Vegas Comedy Festival Winner, is nationally recognized for his victory in the “Laugh Across America Contest.” His eminent career has landed him in clubs like the “Comedy Act Theatre” and the “Maverick Flats Comedy Store.” Turner’s first successful attempt at being a comedian was taken during religion class where he imitated “black Baptist gatherings” to his white counterparts. He has appeared on television networks such as “BET” and “Comedy Central,” fulfilling his performing dreams.
