Faculty member assists in CD production

February 23, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - Julie Williard, assistant professor of nursing at the University of West Georgia, recently assisted in the creation of an interactive CD-ROM to accompany Weber & Kelley’s Health Assessment textbook. It was published in Fall 2004 by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.

Williard first got involved in the project when she was using the textbook for her health assessment class. Although the CD corresponds to Weber & Kelley’s textbook, it is a useful supplement to any textbook or lab instruction.

The CD covers the fundamentals of data collection and analysis as well as specific clinical guidance on evaluating each body system. It can also be imported into WebCT, which enables the instructor to grade students based on their usage of the CD.

“It will greatly benefit the students because they are presented patient care scenarios, given the opportunity to ask questions of the expert nurse, and then receive feedback about their interventions,” said Williard.

Williard teaches physical assessment and adult health courses at UWG and researches topics such as health promotion, disease prevention and communication in health care.
