Jazz ensemble to perform

March 5, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Jazz Ensemble, directed by professor of music Dr. Dan Bakos, will perform on Thursday, March 13, at 8:15 p.m. on the main stage of the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.

The Jazz Ensemble, which features various student performers with Bakos playing the piano, will play a variety of jazz compositions including the blues-based “Full Nelson” by Oliver Nelson and “Big Swing Face” by Bill Potts, the Latin salsa “Uno Mas” by Paul Lopez and “Too Soon Tomorrow” by Pat Metheny.
There are also three vocal numbers on the program which include “Black Magic,” “Stormy Weather” and “Everyday I Have the Blues,” featuring vocalists Sherry Luke of Carrollton, Kristen Johnson of Birmingham, AL, and Phil Jones of East Point.
