Mackel elected GACLEA president March 4, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Tom Mackel, director of public safety at the University of West Georgia, has been elected president of the Georgia Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators for 2003. Mackel has been a member of the GACLEA for 13 years and has also held vice-president and secretary positions. “GACLEA is an educational organization designed for the improvement of leadership of campus enforcement agencies,” said Mackel, who added that it also provides a means of sharing information and ideas. In addition to providing members with a forum for discussing issues of importance to campus law enforcement with their colleagues in the field, GACLEA represents such issues to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and the Georgia General Assembly.
