Michael Vick Football Camp

March 12, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - Are you ready for some football? Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will sponsor a football camp this summer at the University of West Georgia for youth ages 8-18, promising an exclusive Michael Vick experience.

UWG News PhotoVick, along with other NFL players and coaches, will interact with the participants each day during the June 20-24 camp. A unique feature of the camp will be the daily Michael Vick Camp Life Skills Seminar, where a panel of current NFL players and coaches lecture on personal life experiences.

Campers will be grouped by age, size and experience. The Michael Vick Experience for younger athletes begins with creating an environment that fosters teamwork, self-confidence and the full realization of each player’s potential. Every camper has the opportunity to learn about every position.

The camp helps shape younger players by stressing brotherhood and gamesmanship, fostering a high level of respect for one another and for the game.

Seasoned athletes will receive individualized attention to assist them in taking their game to the next level including individualized weight and plyometrics consultations, life skills seminars, and the opportunity to consult with collegiate level coaches and staffs.

The coaching staff was assembled by camp director Jim Dorsey who has more than 20 years of coaching and executive camp director experience, and has over 200 wins in Georgia high school football. In addition to current and past NFL coaches and current NFL players, top college and regional high school coaches will be on staff.

Vick’s personal commitment to the development of the campers has resulted in the Michael Vick Promise: everyone participates, emphasize football fundamentals by incorporating progressive skill development, every participant learns every position, daily life skills education seminars, yell encouragement/whisper criticism, and have fun.

Topics in the life skills seminars will include being a complete student-athlete, self-discipline, and the rewards and consequences of making the right and wrong choices in life.

Overnight campers live on campus with 24-hour supervision. This option includes three all-you-can-eat meals per day. Cost of the Overnight Camper option is $643. Extended Day Campers arrive at 8:30 a.m. and depart at 9:30 p.m. The extended Day Camper fee of $543 includes lunch and dinner.

The camp is staffed with a doctor on-site 24 hours/day and a full-time staff of certified trainers. Campers will need full upper body equipment which will be available for rental for $50.

The camp welcomes teams and groups.

All payments, final packet forms, and group registrations are due by May 1. To register or for more information, visit the website at www.michaelvickcamps.com, or phone 1-866-360-5439.
