Physics Demonstration March 18, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Light and lasers! Mysterious materials! Physical illusions! Although it sounds like an exotic magic show, these phenomena will actually be part of the 34th Annual Physics Demonstration Night to be held Monday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the Marion Crider Lecture Hall of the University of West Georgia’s Boyd Building. Dr. Ben de Mayo, professor emeritus of physics, will present various physics demonstrations for the audience (appropriate for anyone older than 6 years). Although de Mayo has been the primary demonstrator through the years, he will be assisted by other Physics Department faculty such as Dr. James Espinosa, assistant professor of physics. “I have kept doing this show because it’s rewarding to do something nice for the community, especially the kids, and because it’s a lot of fun,” de Mayo noted. “I’d like to keep demonstrating for another 34 years!” This event is sponsored by the Department of Physics as well as NASA- the Georgia Space Grant Consortium. For more information, contact de Mayo at 678-839-4097 or Espinosa at 678-839-4091. -30- |
