Ayers nursing scholarship established

CARROLLTON, GA - An anonymous donor has given $5,000 to establish the Donna Ayers Memorial Nursing Scholarship at the University of West Georgia.
This scholarship will be awarded annually, with preference being given to a licensed practical nurse wishing to further his or her education and earn a registered nursing degree at UWG.
Ayers was a licensed practical nurse in the office of Carrollton Ear Nose & Throat and for many years at Tanner Medical Center. This scholarship was established by her friends and colleagues to honor her memory as a compassionate, loyal employee and friend.
“Donna was a self-taught person. She always had a thirst to learn more, not just about nursing but about everything,” said Vickie Williamson, close friend and co-worker. “She was very meticulous, and this quality made her a very good nurse,” she added.
