Southern baking contest held April 9, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Are you a great cook who has a knack for preparing cornbread, biscuits or teacakes? If so, the Center for Public History at the University of West Georgia needs your help. During Mayfest on May 3, the Center will be sponsoring a baking contest and will feature exhibits regarding southern baking traditions of cornbread, biscuits and teacakes. The Center is developing a series of programs regarding regional baking traditions through the financial support of the Georgia Humanities Council. To help the Center clearly understand baking traditions of the South, interviews with traditional cooks are needed. The Center will need to know why your food is special and how it has shaped the traditions of your family and/or community. To enter the baking contest log on to www.westga.edu/~history/center.htm for an application. For more information concerning the project or to give an interview, contact Jessica Hendrickson at 770-838-3141 or email at stu39448@westga.edu. -30- |
