McIntyre named interim dean April 10, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - Dr. Faye McIntyre, an associate professor of marketing at the University of West Georgia, has been appointed interim dean of the Richards College of Business effective July 1. She will replace Dr. Ara Volkan, who will leave the University on July 31 to fill the position of Eminent Scholar and Moorings Park Chair of Accounting at Florida Gulf Coast University. Volkan, a professor of business administration and former chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance, had been serving as interim business dean since the retirement of former dean Dr. Jack Johnson in September 2003. A national search for a permanent dean is still under way and is expected to be completed early next year, according to Dr. Thomas J. Hynes, vice president for academic affairs. “While we did not successfully conclude our national search, we are fortunate to have excellent colleagues such as Dr. McIntyre, who can serve as dean of the Richards College of Business,” said Hynes. “We have every confidence that she will continue in the tradition of effective academic leadership here at UWG.” McIntyre has also been promoted to professor effective July 1, pending approval by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. Before joining UWG in 1998, McIntyre taught at Rockhurst University, the University of Mississippi and the University of South Dakota. She has also done extensive consulting work in the field of marketing. She is a recipient of the Richards College of Business 2002-03 Faculty Service Award and 2001-02 Faculty Research Award and Faculty Development Award. McIntyre holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia and has completed professional development programs at Columbia University and the University of California at Berkeley. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees at West Georgia. -30- |
