Students to present research at national conference

April 6, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - University of West Georgia students continue the tradition of having a national presence in the realm of undergraduate research. Ten UWG students have been chosen to make formal presentations of their research at the 2004 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Indianapolis, IN on April 15-17.

The mission of NCUR is to promote undergraduate research scholarship and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education.

According to Dr. Andy Leavitt, UWG associate professor of chemistry, students from West Georgia’s Honors College have participated in this conference for a number of years.

Making presentations this year will be Cathy Tran, chemistry major from Carrollton; Logan Leslie, chemistry major from Carrollton; Patricia Omuegbu, biology major from Norcross; Rhett Bridger, history major from Albany; Sarah Mistak, anthropology major from Maryville, TN; Stephanie Stennett, biology major from Lawrenceville; Taylor Proctor, chemistry major from Carrollton; Amy Herber, chemistry major from Douglasville; Dimitriy Plaks, physics/dual degree engineering major from Powder Springs; and Idoreyin Esenyie, French major from Lithia Springs.
