German Professor receives award April 15, 2005
The award is given to those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the promotion and teaching of German language and literature. Cormican’s recognition marks the third statewide award that a member of the UWG Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures has received in the last two years. “I think the award recognizes the building of the German program here as much as it does my own teaching and research and so I really share it with my colleague, Dr. John Blair [professor of German at UWG],” said Cormican. “It puts our small, but active German program on the map in Georgia so students and teachers see that if they come here, they will get a quality education, lots of personal attention and real opportunities to advance their German skills and possibly study abroad.” Cormican has been at UWG since fall 1997. Prior to that, she taught at Indiana University in Bloomington, the University of Nevada at Reno and the University of Missouri in Columbia.
