Greek Week

April 18, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - Every spring at the University of West Georgia the community of fraternities and sororities participates in Greek Week. The week is a time to allow the social Greeks of UWG to come together to become a stronger, more positive society and to have fun at the same time.

This year, the Greek community will raise money to benefit the American Cancer Society and collect canned goods for the Carroll County Emergency Shelter.

Greek Week will take place from Monday, April 18, to Friday, April 22. On Monday, the day’s theme will be “Spirit Day,” and all Greeks are encouraged to wear anything that represents their organization. Later that evening, there will be a trivia game show in the Bonner Lecture Hall at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the theme will be “Pin & Grin.” There will be a canned food drive in front of Ingram Library. The Campus Awards Activities Program will be at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts from 7:30 to 9 p.m., followed by a talent show at the Student Recreation Center at 9:30 p.m.

On Wednesday and Thursday, all Greeks will participate in “Jersey Days.” At 2:15 p.m. there will be an all-Greek photo shoot on the Intramural Fields, followed by a game day on the Intramural Fields from 1 to 4 p.m. After the game day wraps up, Zeta Phi Beta will host a cookout at 4 p.m. in Love Valley.

On Thursday, Greeks will participate in a volleyball tournament at Rivers Edge Apartments from 3 to 5 p.m. Following the tournament, there will be the Mr./Ms. Pageant at 7:30 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center. Immediately following the pageant, the Greek Week Awards will be presented.
