Peer Financial Counseling Program April 15, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia’s Department of Financial Aid is starting a new Peer Financial Counseling Program to help educate students on becoming more aware of the financial decisions that will face them in the future. This program will be based around four modules that will inform the students about budgeting, investing, credit card dangers, and teaching students how to read credit reports. “We want our students to become more knowledgeable about these issues so that they will be able to make better financial decisions and know a little about what they might be getting into,” said Charlene Martin, a current UWG freshman who helps coordinate program events. These program presentations will be open to both high school and UWG students, and will also be available for first-year students who attend UWG orientation, as well as community members who have a keen interest in financial counseling.
