Reading Day Activities at the EXCEL Center April 25, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia’s EXCEL Center for Academic Success will host its semiannual Reading Day celebration on Tuesday, May 3, from 9 to 4 p.m. Students are invited to the center, located in Strozier Hall, for an afternoon of fun! The Reading Day event will offer food, games, movies, massages and contests to students all over campus. This semester’s theme is the 1980s, and students will get the opportunity to dress up in their favorite outfits from the past. At 2 p.m., the center will host the ’80s Best Dressed Contest. “Reading Day gives students the opportunity to study and relax before taking their final and midterm exams,” said Ashley Lewis, assistant director of the EXCEL Center. The EXCEL Center for Academic Success is geared toward the needs of all first-year and transfer students. Its services include mentoring, tutoring in the core curriculum, academic advising for all students who have not declared a major, and the Multicultural Achievement Program.
