Music Recitals

CARROLLTON, GA - University of West Georgia music students Angelia Nicole Weide of Marietta and William Camp of Rockmart will perform recitals in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall of the Humanities Building on Sunday, April 24, and Monday, April 25.

Weide, mezzo-soprano, will perform her graduate voice recital accompanied by George Mann at the piano, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 24. Camp, saxophone, will perform a senior jazz recital assisted by several other music students at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, April 25.

Weide, who studies voice with Dr. Larry Frazier, professor of music, will sing Italian, German, French and English art songs by Carissimi, Buzzoleni, Rossini, Schumann, Strauss, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Verdi and Hundley.

A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Music Educators National Conference, Weide is completing her master’s degree in vocal performance. She works at East Paulding Middle School and is the daughter of Richard and Joy Weide of Canton, Ga.

Camp, who studies jazz composition with Dr. Daniel Bakos, professor of music, and saxophone with Dr. John Bleuel, assistant professor of music, will perform his original compositions as well as works by Victor Young, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Charles Mingus.

A member of the Honors College and the winner of both the 2005 Larry Teal Saxophone Award and the 2005 Lit Mu Club Fine Arts Award, Camp performs with the University’s Saxophone Ensemble, Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble. He lives in Rockmart with his wife, Anne, and their two children.

Student performers assisting Camp in his recital will be Ike Floyd, Chris Holloway, Doug Kim, Kendall Lawson, Justin Mayercik, Brian Snead, Earl South and Kevin Wright.
