Education Convocation

April 6, 2006

CARROLLTON, GA - The College of Education at the University of West Georgia will host its 2006 Evelyn Fulbright Lecture Program and Honors Convocation on Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in the Education Center. The event recognizes outstanding students and scholarship recipients.

The guest speaker at the event will be Dr. Betty Lentz Siegel, president of Kennesaw State University. Siegel has served as president of KSU since 1981. She is the first woman to head an institution in the University System of Georgia and the longest-serving woman president in the nation. She is an internationally known lecturer and motivational speaker on leadership, educational issues and women’s concerns. Siegel has delivered keynote addresses at hundreds of national, regional and state conferences in the United States, Puerto Rico and 10 foreign countries.

The Fulbright Lecture Program was established in 1998 to honor Dr. Evelyn Fulbright, who served as a professor and dean of the College of Education for more than 17 years. Student enrollment more than doubled in the college during the Fulbright years, in part because of the innovative programs that she helped to develop.
