Earth Day at UWGApril 10, 2006 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Energy Conservation Committee will sponsor an Earth Day 2006 celebration in Love Valley on Thursday, April 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. Earth Day 2006 is a student-run event that will communicate with students, faculty and staff on ways to conserve energy and to make a positive difference in the environment on and off campus. Participating groups include the Geosciences Club, Student Government Association, Student Peace Action Network and the Energy Conservation Committee. The organizations will present educational information on relevant topics such as recycling, air pollution, and water conservation. Other sponsors for the free event include Southwire and the Departments of Business, Finance, Facilities and Grounds. Earth-friendly snacks, live entertainment and Earth Day souvenirs are free to students and other participants. The Earth Day 2006 philanthropy will be the Ferst Program
for Childhood Literacy. The Ferst Program raises money to provide children
in Carroll County with a free monthly supply of books from birth to 5
