Bernhardt honored with scholarship
May
12, 2003
CARROLLTON,
GA - Upon her retirement from the University of West Georgia, Dr. Jeanette
Bernhardt (center) was honored by friends and colleagues by the establishment
of the Jeanette Bernhardt Merit Scholarship in Nursing. Bernhardt served
UWG for 28 years and was chairman of the Department of Nursing from 1978
to 1999. Under her direction, the department grew from a small associate
of science in nursing program to a baccalaureate program for both traditional
and registered nurse students in Carrollton and at two off-campus sites.
In 2001, former Governor Roy Barnes appointed Bernhardt to the Georgia
Board of Nursing which regulates nursing practice for the citizens of
Georgia. Pictured with Bernhardt at her retirement reception are faculty
and staff members of the UWG Department of Nursing who, along with friends,
established the merit scholarship.
