Barker receives IMA award

CARROLLTON,
GA - The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) has selected University
of West Georgia student Shelley Barker, of Carrollton, as a scholarship
winner. The MIA scholarship awards students with academic merit and outside
student activities with preference to students who have expressed interest
in management accounting.
“This is the sixth student from UWG in the past seven years to be awarded this scholarship,” said Dr. Ara Volkan, chair of accounting and finance department. “There are only eight scholarships available world-wide per year to undergraduate students.”
Dr. Jack Jackson, dean of the Richards College of Business, added, “This is an another great example of how the UWG accounting faculty is doing an outstanding job preparing students for accounting opportunities.”
