Phonathon sets record May 20, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Students at the University of West Georgia have been hard away dialing numbers for the past seven months. Their persistent work has definitely paid off — a record setting $113,086 was raised during the Phonathon, which is organized through the Office of Development and Alumni Services.
“It was quite exciting that we reached our goal,” said Karla Stanford, one of the callers from this year. “Last year we raised over $100,000 so when we reached our goal and surpassed $110,000, it was amazing.” This was Stanford’s second year manning the phones. Jennifer Hale, another caller from the Phonathon added, “My Phonathon experience has been great. The alumni are happy to hear from us and they are always ready to share stories from their days at West Georgia.” Over 20,000 UWG alumni donors responded to the Phonathon with pledges this year. The Phonathon has generated supported for the University since it began in 1999. Approximately $71,000 was raised in 1999, over $89,000 was raised in 2000 and in 2001 over $100,000 was raised. -30- |
