Word Basics course offered

May 19, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - Even if you’ve been using Microsoft Word on a daily basis, you may not be taking full advantage of its powerful features. For instance, did you know that the software program has an extensive thesaurus, that it will automatically type frequently used phrases and that it builds tables in a single click?

You can master all these features and more in the “Word Basics” class that will be offered by the University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education on June 8 and 10 from 2 to 5 p.m. on the Carrollton campus.

“Word Basics” is a great skill builder and the perfect first course after you’ve conquered the essential computer fundamentals. The course covers creation of simple documents; cut, copy and paste; AutoCorrect; formatting; graphics; and tables — all the skills necessary to create a polished look for your printed materials quickly and easily.

Of all the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite, Word is the most customizable, offering countless shortcuts and options for making work easier, and many of these will be included in the course.

The course fee is $109, and classes will be taught in the Computer University lab in the basement of the Ingram Library. For additional information or to register, visit the Continuing Education website at www.uwgce.com or call the department at 770-836-6611.
