Arts & Sciences faculty honored May 16, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia College of Arts and Sciences recently presented Excellence in Teaching Awards for Arts and Sciences to four of its faculty members. Award recipients Dr. Sharmistha Basu-Dutt, associate professor of chemistry; Mitzi McFarland, lecturer in English; Dr. Elena Mustakova-Possardt, associate professor of psychology; and Dr. Nancy Pencoe, assistant professor of biology, each received a plaque and $500 to be used for travel or equipment. Presented for the first time this year, the new awards will be given annually to reward excellence in teaching as evidenced by the teacher’s integration of their research and scholarship into their classes and by the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate research. -30- Return
