UWG announces Director of University Libraries May 26, 2005
Flanders has held several positions with the library since she began at GC&SU in 1989, including acting University librarian, assistant/associate director for instruction and reference services, and information/instruction librarian. She was the young adult librarian at the Oconee Regional Library in Dublin and also worked with the Cobb County Public Library System in Marietta. In addition to serving on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Academic Committee on Libraries from 2003-2004, Flanders has participated in numerous campus and professional organization committees. She is a member of the American Library Association; Association of College & Research Libraries; Georgia Historical Society; and the Bioliographic Instruction Group of Georgia: Eastern Region. Flanders holds the A.B. in American Studies from Wesleyan College, the M.LN. from the University of South Carolina, and the M.A. in History from Georgia College. In the fields of both library science and history, Flanders has made numerous professional presentations and is widely published in academic and historical publications. Her civic service through the years includes the City of Milledgeville Bicentennial Celebration Committee, Baldwin County Supporters of the Gifted, invited participant in Gov. Perdue’s Education Summit for Parents and Teachers, Milledgeville Heritage Foundation, and many others. -30- Return
