UWG announces 2005 promotions and tenure

CARROLLTON, GA - The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia recently announced its promotion and tenure approvals for University of West Georgia faculty members.
The following associate professors have been promoted to professor: Dr. Elizabeth Bennett, media and instructional technology; Dr. David Bush, geosciences; Dr. Patricia Campbell, political science and planning; Myron House, library; Dr. Randal Kath, geosciences; Shirley Lankford, library; Dr. Andrew Leavitt, chemistry; Dr. L. Dawn Putney, media and instructional technology; Dr. Robert Sanders, political science and planning; and Dr. Sandra Stone, sociology and criminology.
Several assistant professors were promoted to associate professor, including: Dr. John Bleuel, music; Dr. Carol Dole, economics; Dr. Maria-Elena Doyle, English and philosophy; Rochelle Elman, mass communications and theatre arts; Dr. Jorge Gaytan, management and business systems; Dr. Carol Gingerich, music; Dr. Donna Harkins, curriculum and instruction; Dr. George Larkin, political science and planning; Dr. James Mayer, geosciences; Dr. Heather Nicol, geosciences; Dr. Lisa Osbeck, psychology; Dr. Jeffrey Reber, psychology; Kevin Shunn, art; Dr. Douglas Turner, management and business systems; and Dr. Christopher Williams, sociology and criminology.
Thirteen faculty members were granted tenure: Bleuel, Dole, Doyle, Elman, Gingerich, Harkins, Larkin, Nicol, Osbeck, Reber, Shunn, Turner and Williams.
