Rhubarb Jones Super Night May 16, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - How would you like to own a guitar signed by Travis Tritt, Kenny Chesney, Charlie Daniels and other country music stars? Your chance to bid on this treasure is coming up at the Sixth Annual Rhubarb Jones Super Night on Tuesday, May 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Food Service Building.
Super Night will feature live and silent auctions, hor d’oeuvres provided by Publix, an open bar sponsored by Morgan Oil Company and dinner by Outback Steakhouse. Disc jockey Brock Eady will provide music for the silent auction. Auction items include three travel packages that include two business class flights courtesy of AirTran (good for one year); flag from this year's Masters that includes autographs from 2005 champion Tiger Woods, past champions Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and many others; a large assortment of Atlanta Braves memorabilia such as autographed bats, balls and jerseys including Tim Hudson, Chipper Jones, Andrew Jones, Manager Bobby Cox and John Smoltz, and a Lance Armstrong Yellow Jersey from the Tour de France (autographed, matted and framed). Women's items include earrings from Lee Cole's Fine Diamonds, spa package from Spa Sydall, and many items from local boutiques including Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio, Freckles Boutique, Classy Cricket Too and Three Daughters Boutique. In addition to the silent and live auctions, there is a $10 raffle to win roundtrip air for two to San Francisco to stay at the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf. Other prizes include a $500 grocery certificate from Publix and a 21-speed bicycle provided by Papa John's Pizza. According to Mike Cooney, assistant director of athletics, after the first year Rhubarb Jones served as master of ceremonies for the auction, the name of the event was changed to the Rhubarb Jones Super Night. “Over the seven years, we have raised several hundred thousand dollars for athletics,” Cooney noted. “Rhubarb has been responsible for lining up top entertainers such as comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Tim Wilson, James Gregory, Mary Ellen Hooper and singer T.
