Electrical Distribution Project to get Underway June 10, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Construction will begin at the University of West Georgia within the next two weeks on a campus-wide project to address the electrical needs of the campus. According to Lynn Agan, director of campus planning and development, when the Technology-enhanced Learning Center became functional, the campus maximized the capacity of the electrical distribution system. “Aging sub-stations and increased demand due to computers and instructional technology also played a part in this increased demand for electricity,” Agan explained. “Expansion is required prior to the addition of the Health, Wellness and Lifelong Learning Center.” A
construction period of nine months is anticipated. The project will include:
reconfiguring the electrical distribution; replacing aging substations;
placing all above ground distribution lines underground; providing for
maximum system capacity; and preparing for future campus expansion. -30- |
