Faculty Awarded Laptops

UWG News PhotoCARROLLTON, GA - Twelve faculty members at the University of West Georgia have been awarded laptop computers recently for their outstanding online course proposals. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia provided funding for the computers to foster faculty development programs.

Dr. Thomas Hynes (back, right), vice president for academic affairs, was on hand to congratulate the winners. The winners were (front row, left to right): Dr. Betty Morris, media and instructional technology; Dr. Laurel Holland, sociology, anthropology and criminology; Dr. Teresa Whitt-Walton, special education; (back row, left to right): Lesley Henderson, nursing; Dr. Janice Purk, sociology, anthropology, criminology; Dr. Nancy Pollard, special education; Dr. David Bush, geosciences; and Dr. Michelle Joyner, math. Not pictured are: David Morgen, English; Carol Goodson, library; Dr. Anne Halsall, educational leadership, and Chad Davidson, English.

To be considered for the award, each faculty member developed and submitted a proposal for an online course using WebCT and such other programs as Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Authorware. A committee of six faculty members selected the winners, who are able to use the laptops for as long as they are employed by UWG.
