Singer named VP for University Advancement June 22, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - Dr. Tara S. Singer, director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, has been named Vice President for University Advancement at the University of West Georgia. She assumes the role at UWG September 1.
Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, president of UWG, said, “I am delighted to welcome Dr. Singer to West Georgia. She brings a wealth of experience and great enthusiasm to her new position as Vice President for University Advancement. She is committed to working with our faculty and staff and with our alumni, trustees, and community members to further the advancement goals of the University.” Also at the University of Louisville, she earned her B.A., M.A., and Ed.D. degrees. She served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education and Human Development and the College of Arts and Sciences. She has written and edited one book, two book chapters, and numerous articles and institutional publications. Singer has made numerous presentations to national organizations on a wide range of topics such as fund raising, professionalism and ethics in institutional advancement, strategic planning for student affairs administrators, orienting the adult learner to college, and others. Her institutional service at the University of Louisville included membership on such committees as Women and Philanthropy, Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, President’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Services to Students, and the Provost’s Committee on Academic Advising. Singer is a member of the following professional associations: Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics, Conference USA Alumni Directors Group, College and University Computer Users Association, American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and others. “I am very happy about having the opportunity to join the team at the University of West Georgia,” Singer said. “Dr. Sethna has crafted an exciting vision for the institution, and I look forward to working with our colleagues to develop support for that vision and in promoting the interests of the University and its many great programs.” Until September 1, David Parkman, former vice president for University advancement, will serve in that role as interim. Also in University Advancement, Scott Huffman, associate vice president for development and alumni services, has taken a position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham effective July 1 and Mary Jane Goodson, assistant director for development, will serve as interim in Huffman’s previous position. -30- |
