Join UWG for Independence DayJune 24, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Alumni and friends of the University of West Georgia are invited to help build a float for Carroll County’s People’s Parade, then participate in the Fourth of July community tradition. According to Dr. Andy Leavitt, associate vice president of development and alumni relations, the West Georgia float will be built on Saturday, July 2, with construction getting underway at 9 a.m. at the Alumni House. “It’s been a while since West Georgia had a float in the Fourth of July parade, commented Leavitt. “There is excitement to revive that tradition, and we encourage alumni and friends in the area to volunteer as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day.” Leavitt added that those wishing to be a part of the celebration should meet at Dairy Queen on Hwy. 27 at 9 a.m. on July 4 for the parade line up.
