UWG receives Charitable Gift AnnuityAugust 17, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia received its very first Charitable Gift Annuity from a former professor and loyal supporter.
According to Ernie Henderson, director of Planned Giving, his charitable gift annuity benefits both his family and the university. This annuity provides a lifelong income for DeVillier and a beneficiary of his choosing. Other benefits of establishing an anunuity include reduced capital gains and estate taxes; and higher yields than the stock and bond markets. At the end of the agreement, the invested funds are turned over to the university. The trend toward charitable gifts as a way to invest is becoming a popular option for investors and can include a variety of assets including land, Henderson noted.
