Student receives Jack Mangham Scholarship AwardAugust 17, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Krasimir Dimov, a recent University of West Georgia graduate, received the prestigious Jack Mangham Scholarship Award presented by the Georgia Association for Colleges and Employers.
“I like computers because they are logical,”
he said. “I like mathematics for the same reason.” The scholarship award is one of many the computer scientist has received. Since he began his studies at UWG, he’s accepted the Boyd Award, the Minority Achievement Program, the Student Excellence Convocation Award and placement in Honors College. This summer, Dimov has passed the Microsoft Certified Professional exam. Dr. Will Lloyd, associate professor in computer science and Dimov’s academic advisor, said Dimov has a gift. “He’s brilliant,” said Lloyd. “I feel like he’s my son. When students don’t have family close by, you get to know them a lot more.” The Georgia Association for Colleges and Employers awards the Jack Mangham Scholarship Award to exemplary students in any discipline. GACE is an organization that promotes strong relationships between institutions of higher learning and employers.
