3ds Max Course offered Septembe 2, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Ever wondered how your favorite cartoon character makes his moves? Can you visualize graphics that you can’t bring to life on mere paper? Then the University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education has a class that will interest you. The class 3ds Max will use 3ds Max 5 software to teach participants how to generate video games, movies, marketing and corporate presentations, and virtual building layouts with stunning three-dimensional graphics. 3ds Max software is the latest major release of the industry’s most popular animation, modeling and rendering program and offers endless possibilities for the creative mind. The software has been used to create graphics in such movies as Final Destination II, XMen II and Mission Impossible II. In addition, many Sony Playstation II, Nintendo Game Cube, Microsoft XBox and personal computer games were created using 3ds Max, as were such video games as Diablo II, Grand Theft Auto III and Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings. Another full release is due out this fall, but for now downloadable copies of version 5 are available on the Discreet.com website. Beta copies of the newest release will also be previewed in this class. The class will be offered on Thursdays, Sept. 11 through Nov. 20, with the exception of Oct. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Ingram Library Computer Lab. “Because the class is suitable for all age groups, we’ve scheduled it for evenings,” says Lauri Thompson, computer specialist in Continuing Education. The cost of the course is $129. For more information or to register, contact the Department of Continuing Education at 770-836-6611. -30- Use
