African American Alumni Reunion

CARROLLTON, GA - African American Alumni of the University of West Georgia will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, September 13 — it’s time to unite for the 2003 AAA Reunion!

This year’s reunion committee has generated many fun ideas to take alumni “back in the day” to recall fond memories of what life was like in West Georgia’s black student community.

The reunion kicks off at 1 p.m. with relaxing card games. A talent show is scheduled which according to Frank Pritchett, assistant director of UWG Alumni Services, gives groups or individuals an opportunity to show that “they still know how to strut their stuff.”

About the same time, just outside on the new Z-6 patio, alumni will work together to grill ribs and chicken. At 3 p.m., alumni will unite for a mid-day lunch.

Following lunch, alumni will recognize O.B. Yates and Dr. Charles Wilson, individuals who helped build programs at West Georgia designed specifically for African-American students. Later that night, alumni are invited to attend the football game at Grisham Stadium at 7 p.m. West Georgia will play the Rams of Albany State.

Cost for the reunion is only $20 per person and includes a souvenir t-shirt. The price does not include admission to the football game. For more information, contact Pritchett at 770-836-6582.
