Bread Making course offered

September 16, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - What could be better than the smell of fresh-baked bread straight from the oven? The University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education’s Breadmaking class can teach you how to bake the perfect loaf so that you can savor the aroma of fresh bread in your own kitchen.

The class will be offered at the UWG Newnan Center on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will start with a basic loaf, knead their way through rolls and bake cloud biscuits.

“Homemade bread is an amazing food,” says instructor Lauri Thompson. “The smell of baking bread fills the house with goodness and calls everyone to the table with expectations of a delightful meal. It can highlight a special dinner, or it can turn an ordinary can of soup into a memorable meal.”

At the end of the day, participants will leave with recipes, a loaf of bread and the confidence and knowledge to repeat the process in their own kitchens. The course costs $25, and it does not require any previous baking experience. There is a short list of required materials, so early registration would be helpful.
