Celebration of Peace

CARROLLTON, GA - The two-year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks will be observed by the University of West Georgia community during two events scheduled for September 11.

The Student Activities Committee (SAC) will sponsor a tent outside the University Community Center (UCC) to present a "Celebration of Peace." The event will celebrate and encourage peace among students by enabling them to write their thoughts and opinions on peace in a book located inside the tent.

The book will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact LaTressa Walker, program adviser for Student Activities, at 770-836-6526.

A second event, 9-11 Never Forget Project, will take place from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. in room 1305 of the TLC. State Representative Mark Butler will be the keynote speaker and UWG students will also speak and present music. This event is sponsored by the College Republicans, Alpha Omega, the Baptist Student Union and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
