BSA Comedy Show

September 9, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - It is often said that laughter is the universal language, and The Black Student Alliance at the University of West Georgia wants to help bring that language alive for you by hosting its annual comedy show on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m.

The event will begin with an amateur show in which students will show their comedic abilities. Then, at 8 p.m., comedian Shaun Cornelius will entertain the audience. Cornelius is the featured comedian of the Black Comedy Tour, which performs across the country.

Cornelius brings a theatrical background flavored with acting, music, speech and comedy to the stage. He has participated in the off-Broadway show, “The Jackie Robinson Story,” and has several stage credits that enhance his comedic performance. His stimulating and entertaining show includes current events, relationships, personal experiences, battle between the sexes, classical pieces and children.

The Black Comedy Tour is in its 11th year and produces more than 200 shows per year, working with nearly 1,500 colleges, universities, fraternities, sororities and student organizations.

The Comedy Show will be held at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts and will cost $3. Auditions for the amateur hour will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11. For more information, contact the Department of Student Activities at 770-836-6526.
