CARROLLTON,
GA - Audrey Bray, retired special assistant and office manager for former
Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich in his Coweta
County office, donated
valuable scrapbooks to the Ingram Library Special Collections/Archives
Department at the University of West Georgia. According to Dr. Mel Steely,
director of the Georgia's Political Heritage Program, the scrapbooks are
invaluable to those doing research on Gingrich's domestic policies and
on his various reelection campaigns. While working for Gingrich, Bray
collected campaign and congressional materials and filled over a half
dozen scrapbooks in chronological order. Prior to her donation, the books
were on loan to the Newnan Public Library where they were put on exhibit
to the public. Examining the collection are (l-r) Steely, Bray, Mark McManus,
associate director of universities libraries, and Myron House, Special
Collections librarian. UWG’s Special Collections/Archives Department
houses Gingrich’s entire political collection.
