Sorority hosts idol competition September 10 CARROLLTON, GA - The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at the University of West Georgia is sponsoring the first annual Delta Idol competition. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize in addition to other prizes. According to Erica Carmichael, sorority president, the competition is structured much like the popular television program, American Idol. Talents such as dancing, singing, poetry, and rap will be accepted. The competition is open to all UWG students. The first performance will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bonner Lecture Hall. This evening will feature group presentations. The semi-finals for individual performances will be Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the same time and location. Finals to select the Delta Idol is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 8, again at the same time and location. Admission cost for each performance is $2. The performances are open to the public.
