Professor and students present research September 23, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Two University of West Georgia students and a sports management professor will present their research at the Fifth Annual Florida State University Sport Management Conference. The students will be the only undergraduate presenters and are the only UWG students to have ever attended the conference. Sport management majors Kerri Eagan, junior from Douglasville, and Tim Tippins, senior from Carrollton, will present Are You Ready for Some Football?, an analysis of media representations during Monday Night football broadcasts. The
research presentation is part of Eagan’s independent study this
semester, but Tippins’ participation is on his own time. Their presentation
will include the results of additional research conducted this fall on
an extension of research completed in the last academic year. Dr. Richard Southall, assistant professor of physical education and recreation, will also present at the FSU conference and his paper is entitled Are Your Values, My Values? An Analysis of College and University Cultural Values. The research was accepted as the result of a blind review process by a committee of sport management faculty at FSU. The conference program is comprised of academics from sport management, sport industry practitioners and graduate students from universities throughout the southeastern United States. -30- Use
