AirTran Sponsors Faculty/Staff Drive for A DAY September 1, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - Committing to being a campaign sponsor is a very important responsibility. AirTran Airways, the exclusive sponsor of the 2004 Faculty/Staff Drive of the A DAY for West Georgia campaign, has taken that responsibility head on and with no questions asked.
AirTran’s relationship with the University of West Georgia comes naturally. Of AirTran’s 160 employees in the West Georgia area, two-thirds of them are UWG students. Some students also begin their careers with AirTran. For example, Vince Fulghum, general manager of AirTran Airways’ Carrollton Contact Center, received his Bachelor of Education degree in 1999, and earned his Master of Education degree in 2004 from UWG, and he now has an exciting career with AirTran. Fulghum has been a part of AirTran for 4 1/2 years and says it is a great company to work for because, “It provides lots of growth and opportunity.” His involvement with UWG helped bring AirTran to Carrollton. “AirTran
is glad to be a part of Carrollton,” he said. He noted that AirTran
chose to place its call center in Carrollton because it felt like the
goals of the local community and UWG aligned with the goals of AirTran,
and AirTran’s goals aligned with those of the University and the
community. The Georgia-based airline is very committed to the University and the community. Many AirTran “Crew Members” are participating in the various A DAY events to show their support for the A DAY campaign. In the words of Fulghum, “We are happy to be here!” A DAY for West Georgia will take place on Thursday, Oct. 21.
