Fred O'Neal: A DAY 2004 Co-Chair September 14, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - A campaign is only as great as the people in it, and the A DAY for West Georgia campaign has nothing less than great people involved. One in particular is Fred O’Neal, vice chairman and advanced solicitation chairman.
O’Neal feels A DAY is important because it is an effort to raise money in an organized fashion. He also believes this event adds “excitement and visible support.” As vice chairman, O’Neal’s responsibilities include helping with the development and planning of the campaign along with the West Georgia Foundation, as well as managing the volunteers on advanced solicitation. Advanced solicitation is the aspect of the campaign where volunteers solicit donations from businesses and organizations prior to the day of A DAY, planned for Oct. 21. The goal of O’Neal and his volunteers is simple— 100 percent participation! “Every year is a win,” noted O’Neal. “But the big picture is participation as our real goal, because raising the funds is a by-product of participation.” Next year as chairman O’Neal just wants to continue with the progress the A DAY campaign has made. He says “I feel no pressure for next year.” O’Neal explained his strategy for 2005 will be to get all the support and participation he can, which will result in a successful year. The Advanced Solicitation portion of the A DAY for West Georgia campaign will end Thursday, Sept. 16, with “A Night for A DAY,” an event sponsored by Scott Evans Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep to recognize the advanced solicitation donors and volunteers.
