Concert Choir and Chamber Singers to perform

CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Kevin Hibbard, chair of the Department of Music, are gearing up for their first performance of the academic year. The concert will be held in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 8:15 p.m.
The Concert Choir will perform a single-movement Magnificat by Baroque composer Giacomo Perti, as well as Richard Nance’s setting of Psalm 42, “Like as the hart desireth the waterbrooks.”
The Chamber Singers, a smaller, select ensemble, will perform 16th- and 17th-century madrigals and balletts by Morley, Wilbye, Bennett, Purcell, di Lasso, Vecchi, Giovanelli and Macfarren. Also on the program are “Answer July” by Jean Berger and a Roland Carter spiritual titled “Rise, Shine, for the Light Is a’Coming,”
