Award winning pianist to perform Spetember 22, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - Award-winning pianist Dr. JeongSoo Kim will perform works by Haydn, Beethoven and Franck in a guest artist recital at the University of West Georgia on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 8:15 p.m. She will also present a lecture and masterclass on pedagogical works by Korean composers on Wednesday, Oct. 6., at 3:30 p.m. Both events will be held in the Humanities Building in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall. They are free and open to the public. Kim has studied with SungKyun Lee, Gabriel Chodos and Rebecca Penneys, and she has performed in masterclasses for Joseph Kalichstein, Veronica Jochum and Malcolm Bilson. She is an assistant professor at Northern Illinois University (NIU). Kim has won top prizes in many competitions, including the Korean Student Piano Competition and the Chautauqua Concerto Competition, and she has given solo and collaborative performances and masterclasses throughout the United States, South Korea and the Philippines. Kim
received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Seoul National
University in Korea and her master’s degree from New England Conservatory.
She received her doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, where she
worked as a piano class teaching assistant and as a graduate award accompanist. -30- |
