Fine Arts Mecca Festival

CARROLLTON, GA - The Carrollton Artist Guild will hold its first Fine Arts Mecca Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center.

The juried show will feature fine art and fine handmade crafts by artists throughout the Southeast. The festival will include art, food, entertainment and an opportunity to meet many of the artists. Entertainment will include performances by music majors from the University of West Georgia.

On Saturday, UWG musical performances will include the Saxophone Ensemble directed by Dr. John Bleuel, assistant professor music, and the Jazz Percussion Group directed by Dr. Doug Overmier, associate professor of music and director of bands. Sunday performances will feature student guitar soloist Brandon Johnson, and the UWG Chamber Singers performing Madrigals in period costumes directed by Dr. Kevin Hibbard, professor of music and chair of the department.

Works by approximately 60-75 artists will be displayed. A unique component of the festival will be the creation of a mosaic bench that visitors may participate in decorating.
