Voter Registration Drive

September 27, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia has made civic engagement, particularly voter registration/awareness and participation in this year’s election, a top priority. A new voter education webpage (www.westga.edu/~wecount) has been established to simplify the registration process.

UWG is sponsoring a Voter Registration Drive on Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the University Community Center.

The “We Count” project is a nonpartisan initiative at UWG in partnership with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ American Democracy Project, Carroll County Voter Election Office and the Secretary of State’s Office. The project seeks to inform all students about the importance of government, voting and political issues.

Regardless of political belief (conservative, liberal, green, moderate, etc.) or political party (Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican, etc.) officials at the University encourage active participation in the country’s democratic process. For more information, visit the website at www.westga.edu/~wecount, particularly the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) as well as other related web links.
