UWG professor attends National Security Seminar

September 9, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - Dr. James Burton, professor of business administration at the University of West Georgia, plans on sharing what he did this summer vacation.

Burton received an invitation to attend the 2005 National Security Seminar at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.

“I was honored to be a participant,” said Burton, who discussed national security issues with students at the seminar. “It was an intense experience and I continue to learn from it.”

Maj. Gen. David H. Huntoon Jr. invited Burton to attend the seminar in part because of his experience with more than a dozen youth service projects throughout the world. The seminar’s goals were to allow military college students to hear a civilian point of view and for participants to meet the nation’s future military leaders. Members of the Class of 2005 included 269 Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps and Coast Guard officers and 41 international officers.

“What impressed me the most was the wisdom, intelligence, and integrity of the officers that I met.” Burton said.
