Young Artists Exhibit October 20, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia is sponsoring its Second Annual Young Artists Exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. in the Education Center. The event is sponsored by the Department of Art and the College of Education in a duel effort to spotlight the art education degree program and support West Georgia area students and teachers in their public school art programs. Kindergarten through 12th-grade art teachers in the West Georgia area are asked to select their students’ best art work to be judged by UWG art faculty. Some of the winning pieces will be purchased by the College of Education and the Art Department and permanently hung in those locations. Other winners will be honored at a reception on Nov. 2, and the art works will then be on exhibit through Dec. 10 in the Education Center. “Because UWG is a cultural center for the entire West Georgia region, we want to help make art part of the curriculum in public schools, and reward and encourage good art produced in our region,” says Bruce Bobick, chair and professor in the art department. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Art Department at 770-836-6521. -30- Use
