Alumni Artists Auction

CARROLLTON, GA - If you are interested in purchasing contemporary works of art from talented artists, plan to attend the Starving Student Artists’ Auction at the University of West Georgia on Friday, Nov. 21. By participating in this event, you will not only get a new piece of art, but also you will be supporting the University.

The UWG Alumni Association is sponsoring the auction, and the proceeds will benefit the student artists, the Department of Art Scholarship Endowment Fund, and the Alumni Association Endowment Fund.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. in the Food Services Building (Z-6) with a silent auction where all works will be displayed. The artists will set a minimum bid and the bidding thereafter will be in $5 increments. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. during the live auction.

Any UWG art student can enter pieces for the auction. The deadline for art entries is Monday, Nov. 3. According to Barbara Tanner, UWG alumna and chairman of the event, the Alumni Association wanted to sponsor the art auction to help give art students some public exposure. She also wants the community to see first-hand the talent of UWG students.
