Friday After Dark October 7, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The Student Activities Committee and other student organizations at the University of West Georgia are promoting students staying on campus during the weekends by providing entertainment on various Friday nights. “Friday After Dark” will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m., in the University Community Center. The event will include games, crafts, music and dancing, and all students are invited to attend. LeTressa Walker, program advisor for student activities, attended a conference last spring about late-night programming and brought the idea of “Friday After Dark” back to UWG. Also sponsoring the event are the Black Student Alliance, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Intra-Fraternity Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and other student organizations. There will be three “Friday After Dark” events each semester. The first one that was held this semester was the first Friday of classes and, according to Walker, it was a huge success. An estimated 1,200 students participated in the activities. For more information, contact the Department of Student Activities at 770-836-6526. -30- Use
